Matthew Sartori, commonly referred to as “Franky” has been with the band since January 2008, and has been performing since the age of 6. Franky has developed a reputation for his explosive natural energy, passion in his sets and in his delivery as well as his ability to work a crowd from 10,000 people to small rooms and intimate venues. Franky has also been recognized on an industry standard through his works with electronic artists, achieving consistent radio rotation with the Track “This Love” with Gemellini and also achieving over 600,000 YouTube views on the track “Dreaming” with Project 46 and 15 Grams through Monstercat Records. The This love Maison and Dragon remix has featured on major Electronic Dance Music stations overseas and has collectively gained over 30,000 views on YouTube. Matthew has performed over 500 live performances and counting, fortunate enough to support amazing bands such as Grinspoon, Mammal, Dead Letter Circus, Operator Please, Bluejuice, The Radiators, Mark Gable (Choirboys), and counting. His working with the Electronic Dance scene continues, as he also continues to strengthen his live act with Sons of Mercury. With his solo works, Matthew made it also into Australia’s got Talent. Frankys’ passion lies in old school soul/funk/jazz, modern dance and something that keeps people moving and going crazy. His voice is diverse whilst suiting rock songs old school rock as well as modern pop and dance songs such as the Killers. His common stage antics include climbing onto things (including his keyboard stand), jumping into the crowd, holding that final note and seeing how far he can both lean and play his keyboard.
Matthew Bryant is the longest standing member of Sons of Mercury, traced back to Inflight Entertainment. Known in the small local original industry for winning almost every competition entered, Matt played an integral part to all of this as well as the recent successes of Sons of Mercury. Matt studied music through to tertiary studies in Western Sydney and despite a strong passion for the rock scene has an ability to adapt to a number of genres and is a diverse musician in his own right.
Matthew has played alongside members from the Screaming Jets, Choirboys, has been a session musician for a number of years and is known by fans as an impressive, choppy guitarist and singer. Teaming this ability with a strong love and enthusiasm and strong live performances has also been part of the band’s charisma and success.
Matt’s passion lies in all music but his strongest interest is in rock. His equipment includes a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier and James Hetfield (Metallica) Gibson, and with this and other guitars he is still able to bring out impressive tones and sounds for the variety of genres we play including soft rock, funk, 50s rock.
Common stage antics include behind the head guitar playing, coming into the crowd, impressive guitar solos and sometimes picking up a set of sticks for a drum solo also.
